FAQs

Do your installations carry a guarantee?

All of our double glazing installations carry a full 10-year guarantee.

How safe is my guarantee?

As Falkirk’s longest established family run Double Glazing, Door and Conservatory company, we have been trading for 40 years. All of our installations are fitted by highly trained and qualified employees, so there is no third party involved in our standard installations. This means that your guarantee is in house, and not outsourced to other companies. In the unlikely event that you require any maintenance or repair to your installation, we have a dedicated member of staff to attend to your needs.

What areas do you cover?

C. Jenkins Windows Ltd. covers the central belt of Scotland. Based in Falkirk, we can travel through to Glasgow and Edinburgh, and surrounding areas. We have installed windows in Doune, Dunblane, Bridge of Allan, Polmont, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Kirkintilloch, Musselburgh, Milton of Campsie, Carlops, Falkirk, Alloa.

Am I required to pay a deposit?

No, we do not take any deposit or payment from you until the job has been completed to your satisfaction. This policy highlights the confidence we have in our service, products, and installation.

What is the process for arranging new Windows?

Firstly we will make an appointment for you to take sizes of your Windows and Doors. Once this has been done a detailed written quotation will be sent out to you, usually within a day or two. If you decide to go ahead, all we ask for is your copy of the quotation to be signed and returned to us. Once we have received this, we can book a date for your windows to be fitted. The Surveyor will visit your home to finalise sizes, the colour of frame and handles, and to choose any obscure or decorative glass for doors or bathroom windows.

Once your Windows have been fitted, an invoice will be sent to you. No payment is due until the completion of the work.

What is the quality of the materials used?

C. Jenkins Windows Ltd. uses only Planitherm Total+ Glass Argon Filled Sealed Units. These are a very high standard specification. The Sealed Units are low emissivity, (Low-E) glass with a proven coating technology that exceeds the new Building Regulations for energy efficiency.

Our frames are made using Rehau Total 70 UPVC, the market leader in UPVC products, manufactured in the UK and holding the British Standards Certification – BS EN 140001 for environmental standards.

What is a ‘U’ rating?

A ‘U’ value is an energy efficiency tool to measure heat-loss from a building. The lower the ‘U’ value, the better the energy efficiency of the windows. All of the Double Glazed Sealed Units we install, have a ‘U’ value which meet and exceed the current regulations for energy efficiency.

What internal finishes are provided?

We can tailor the internal finish to your requirements, either in full mahogany hardwood timber or UPVC. A range of coloured wood stains are available, or if you require a painted finish, these will be given two coats of white undercoat prior to fitting, ready for your coat of gloss. If a minimal finish is required for areas such as kitchens or bathrooms this can also be provided to enable you to tile up to the frame.

Can I choose the colour of my windows?

Yes, we can provide frames in a wide range of colours and finishes, from White, Light Oak, Rosewood, Black and Anthracite Grey to a variety of non-standard colours and finishes. All doors and frames can also be coloured on the outside, and white on the inside if required.

Can I visit you and see the range of windows and doors you provide?

Certainly – our showroom is open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 9am-4pm. We have a range of window styles and glass options for you to have a look at. We also carry a range of Doors and have brochures for those not on display. The showroom has examples of the different coloured handles available to you also. Our Showroom is at Scotia Place, Falkirk, FK2 7AJ, behind Falkirk Central Retail Park.

Can I get a price online?

We do not offer an online quote facility, this is due to the variations in each job. No two installations are the same, and to provide you with the most competitive quote possible, a site survey is required. Our quotes are tailored to the requirements of each customer individually. This is completed free of charge and at your convenience and is complete without obligation. This ensures a clear and comprehensive price tailored to your requirement, with no unexpected extras on completion.

What is Low-e Glass?

Low-e glass is an essential component of most energy-efficient windows and doors. it has a surface coating that is not visible but operates as follows:
it allows short wavelength heat from the sun to enter your home through the glazing. this works alongside your heating system to warm up the room.
the Low-e coating reflects that heat back into the room rather than escaping through the outer pane of the window.
